D.I.V.A.A.S. is a comprehensive mentoring program designed to meet some of the social, spiritual, and academic needs of African-American girls in the 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Participants are involved in weekly meetings where they interact with mentors and discuss issues that are pertinent to their social, spiritual, and academic well being. The purpose of D.I.V.A.A.S. is to enhance the lives of African American girls by offering them a supportive network and a safe and comfortable outlet for self-expression. This program helps to provide the tools necessary for social, spiritual, and academic success by affording participants additional guidance and support to help them navigate the rough tides of adolescence and young adulthood.
